Comprehensive OEM Saab Wheel Gallery Posted at TrollhattanSaab
The guys over at TrollhattanSaab have published a truly comprehensive gallery of OEM Saab wheels. The mix covers just about everything back to 1998, including part numbers. If you're thinking about an upgrade for your Saab, it's definitely worth a check. See it all after the jump.
Here's the latest in rendered speculation of the next-generation Saab 9-5 sedan. Found at ViBilagare.se via TrollhattanSaab.net, the drawing shows one more artist's take on the upcoming Saab flagship. The drawing is just that, and not terribly life like, so we'll see how accurate it is. It's certainly interesting to look at though. We like the aggressive lower air inlets and what looks like LED foglights.
The Saab 9-5 gets its most luxurious version yet come the North American International Auto Show in January in the form of a new North American 'Griffin Edition'. Xenons are standard, as is satin silver trim around the Xenons and the grille. The car gets some new 17-inch 5-spokers, a special interior and some additional standard features. Reindeer vs. BioPower - Saab Video Makes Holiday Comparo
Check out this new video from Saab that we found over on GM Europe's Driving Conversations blog. This short commercial for Saab BioPower doubles as a holiday card from Trollhattan as well... complete with reindeer cameo. More after the jump.
GM revealed photos and details of two new engines - a 2.4-liter VVT direct injection I4 (LAF) and a 3.0-liter V6 VVT direct injection (LAF). The press release (available after the jump) mentions fitments by name, including the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox crossover, the 2010 Buick LaCrosse sedan and the 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover. It does not mention Saab at all.
That said, the likelihood of at least one of these engines and likely the 3.0 LF1 V6 making it into the upcoming Saab 9-4x is quite good. The 9-4x is set to share a chassis with the Cadillac SRX and shared use of this efficient V6 only makes sense. TrollhattanSaab also claims to have a leaked internal document that highlights several details surrounding the 9-4x and a mention of a 3.0 V6. That's good enough for us to assume this engine is a likely candidate. For now, we've added the PR shots of the mill into our 9-4x photo gallery. If for some reason it doesn't come to fruition in the 9-4x, the photos will be pulled. Find the full press release and a link to the gallery after the jump.
Remember that spy photo the Detroit News published last week of a black 9-4x, debadged but basically undisguised, presumably driving the streets of Michigan? We're still assuming all of that, but we've found even more shots and angles of the car at GobalMotors.net. More after the jump.
You might think development is in a holding pattern given the current state of economic affairs at GM, but that doesn't appear to be the case. This most undisguised version we've seen yet of the 9-4x appears to have been spied in Detroit very recently. Looks nice rolling down the road.... more after the jump.
NADAguides.com, a site for vehicle pricing, has named the 9-3 Aero SportCombi XWD one of their 'Top 5 Wagons' with XWD playing a major factor as to what helped win the title. More after the click.

Saab Seeking External Financing for R&D
Reuters is reporting another potential move for Saab as GM battles to stay alive. Representatives in Trollhattan have discussed the possibility of seeking external funding to complete R&D on some new projects that could, in theory, be done without giving away an equity stake. More after the jump.
TrollhattanSaab has posted transcription of some of their dialogue in the last 24 hours with Saab's PR manager Eric Geers. The discussion covers everything from the state of mind in Trollhattan to potential buyers and state ownership. More after the jump.
From the AFP, we've found a news item reporting on Saab's sale potential. In the piece, a words by Saab's Jan-Ake Jonsson from Swedish Public Radio are published - "There are many interested parties. I don't want to mention any specific names but there are many (interested) companies that work with development and support car production, both in Europe and outside of Europe." Among the suitors already in the car-making biz are reportedly BMW, Renault and Tata.
Following their debut in L.A. weeks ago, Saab has shipped the 9-X Air BioHybrid Concept and a 9-3 Convertible special edition for another run on the right coast. Both cars will appear on the Saab stand at the New England International Auto Show. Full press release after the jump.
As part of its sports marketing presence, Saab was on hand at Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens this week. The champion team from Fiji even stopped by the Saab stand to sample the 9-3 Aero convertible. From the photo, we'd have chosen the Turbo X if we were them... but maybe the whole team wouldn't have fit in the car for the photo... or at least not looked as pretty jammed in there.

No VAT Promo for UK Saab Buyers
For those who don't know, VAT is the UK's value-added tax. It's a steep tariff normally to the tune of 17.5%. In an effort to help stimulate the economy, that number's been dropped to 15%. Even better for potential new Saab buyers, Saab UK has discounted their cars 15% in order to offset VAT entirely. More after the jump.
Okay, the part of the pitch suggesting you'll save gas is a bit of a reach... technically true, but a bit of a reach..., but this new fur-lined ice-scraper is super cool and super functional. Trollhattan is pitching them as an excellent stocking stuffer for your favorite Saabophile. Check out the full press release after the jump.
