Lack of Cash Crashes Saab Production
Saab's Trollhattan plant is building only 100 cars a day as it lacks the cash on hand to produce any more. It faces a tough battle as it must build enough cars to fill orders and keep revenue coming in, but lacks the funding to build at a higher capacity. More details can be found at TheLocal.se.

New Renderings of 2010 Saab 9-5 Surface
Over the weekend, Steve at SaabsUnited.com posted some CGI images of the the new Saab 9-5 in both sedan and wagon form. After a weekend full of debate and conjecture, it now appears that the images are not 100% true to final form. Nevertheless, they represent a fairly decent glimpse of the most significant new Saab in a long time.

A Boat Book Saab for Saab People
I was combing the transportation section of my local library (Section 623, specifically) for any books on small sailboats. Not sure why, really, other than I have an interest in all types of vehicles- boats, planes, cars, motorcycles. What I came across was a book called "Sloop" by Daniel Robb. At first I thought it might be a misplaced novel, judging by the cover. But you know what they say about judging books by their covers...

Christian von Koenigsegg Understands Saab
Christian von Koenigsegg - the founder, co-owner and CEO of the supercar manufacturer that bears his name - understands the unique position that Saab holds in today's marketplace. In an Associated Press story, von Koenigsegg stated that Saab "is neither a luxury or a people's car, but it has its own niche - a bit of postmodern comfort, sporty, but with environmental thinking." GM and Koenigsegg Reach Agreement on Saab Sale
Good news for everyone apparently as General Motors has tentatively accepted the terms of the sale of its Saab unit to Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg. Though several details still need to be worked out, the overall plan suits both parties. A full press release from General Motors follows the jump.

Swedish exotic car builder Koenigsegg, along with a team of Norwegiean investors, has signed a letter of intent with General Motors to acquire its unwanted Saab brand. According to Reuters, "The deal is there now and a few minor details remain."
